Privacy
Rebate, the website and the iOS app · Effective October 10, 2026
Rebate doesn't collect, store or share any of your data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking.
Your photos
Photos you open are read, framed and saved entirely on your device. They are never uploaded. The camera details in a photo (EXIF) are read on the device too. When you save a JPEG with "Keep camera metadata" on, those details stay in your file; location is never written into saved files.
Location
The map frames draw their maps from map data that ships with Rebate, and look up place names from a built-in list. A photo's location never leaves your device. Coordinates appear on a frame only if you turn them on.
Settings
Your settings (such as your name, date format and save options) are kept in your browser's or the app's local storage on your device. Reset all settings in Settings removes them.
Permissions (iOS app)
- Photos: to open the photos you pick and to save framed photos to the "Rebate" album.
- Camera: only if you choose to take a photo to frame.
Sharing
The share button hands the framed photo to your device's share sheet. Where it goes from there is up to you and the app you choose.
Hosting
The website is served by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may keep standard server logs (for example IP addresses) under the GitHub Privacy Statement. Rebate itself sends nothing anywhere.
